5 DAY DAS COURSE
(£1200 Inclusive everything)

Direct Access Day 1.
The first morning focuses on road work usually using a 125 cc but possibly a 650cc depending on experience. Next is a Road Briefing, your Instructor will explain how they would like to see you ride the bike and interact with other road users, road markings and traffic signs. After the road briefing, you will go to our off-road site for an explanation of your MOD 1 test and start practicing the skills needed. 

Direct Access Day 2.
The morning focuses on road work possibly around the area of your Mod 2 test, usually using the same machine you rode the day before. After lunch you will be looking at the skills you will need to display to achieve your Module 1 Test Pass with a DVSA Examiner with a Mod.1 practice session. 

Direct Access Day 3.
Day 3: The morning we will practise on the road. Your instructor will interact with you about any faults you have and emphasising the importance of road positioning and safety in all areas on the road, using what is available to you on road markings and directional changes.   

Mod 1 Test day

Direct Access Day 4.
Test Day Is normally a morning of Mod 1 practice and road riding using the same bike and building on what you have learned the previous day. Taking in a variety of road and traffic conditions including junctions, stop junctions, roundabouts, dual carriageways, and one-way systems. At some point you will take your Mod 1 test with a DVSA Examiner. After the Mod 1 test you continue your Mod2 training and will be experiencing a variety of A & B roads with speed limits ranging from 20 mph up to and including National Speed limit roads. Some of your road work will be undertaken in and around the area that you will be taking your practical Test, your instructor may point out local road and traffic situations that you may encounter whilst riding out with the DVSA Examiner. 

The Module 1 Test…
What’s involved?

The Module 1 Test is carried out using a safe off-road area at your Test Centre it takes about 20 minutes. You’ll need to show that you can do the following with your machine:

  • Observations before moving off.
  • Wheel the moped or motorbike and use the stand.
  • Do a slalom and figure of eight.
  • A slow ride
  • U-turn
  • Cornering and controlled stop
  • Cornering and the emergency stop
  • Cornering and hazard avoidance.

There is a minimum speed for the hazard avoidance and emergency stop exercises, for motorcycles this is around 31mph.

At the end of each module the examiner will tell you whether you have passed or not.

The Pass Mark for Module One…

You can make up to five rider faults and still pass Module One. If you make six or more rider faults, you won’t pass the module. If you make one serious or dangerous fault, you won’t pass Module One.

What’s Involved?

On-road riding…

Module Two is the on-road module and typically takes around 40 minutes. You must bring your

What Happens during Module Two…

This module includes:

  • Eyesight test
  • Safety and Balance Questions
  • Road Riding Element
  • Independent Riding Section

Road Riding Element…

You’ll ride in a variety of road and traffic conditions.

You’ll be asked to carry out:

  • Normal Stops
  • An Angle Start (pulling out from behind a parked vehicle)
  • A Hill Start (where possible)

The examiner will give you directions using a radio. They will normally follow you on a motorcycle.

Your riding test will include around ten minutes of independent riding. This is designed to assess your ability to ride safely whilst making decisions independently.

The Pass Mark for Module Two…

You can make up to ten rider faults and still pass module two. If you make 11 or more rider faults, you won’t pass the module, if you repeatedly display the same rider fault your examiner may consider that it is a Serious fault in your riding. If you make one serious or dangerous fault, you won’t pass Module Two.
