COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING (CBT)

COMMITTED TO MAKING TRAINING, SAFE FUN AND ENJOYABLE.

You will need to complete CBT if:

– You want to ride a moped (a moped has an engine not over 50 cc with maximum design speed not exceeding 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) which is approximately 31 miles per hour)
– You want to ride a motorcycle/scooter up to 125cc

Note: If you obtained your car licence before 1 February 2001 you do not need to complete a CBT to ride a 50cc moped*.
Age restrictions on CBT:
• Age 16 You can ride a 50cc moped (geared or automatic)
• Age 17+ You can ride a 125cc learner bike (geared or automatic)

At North London Motorcycle training we are authorised by the Driving Standards Agency as an ‘Approved Training Body’ and we can deliver your CBT course and issue your certificate (DL196) on site.

When you arrive at the reception area your documents and riding equipment will be checked. You will then be transported to our off-road site and introduced to your instructor.
If you have been asked to meet at one of our satellite sights, your instructor will check your documents and riding equipment.

A simple eyesight test will follow at 20.5 metres.
Once we have completed these simple steps, we are ready to start.

Remember we are here to help, and we will do everything we can to make your new experience, comfortable, educational, and enjoyable.

Passing a CBT can be a daunting task

Add this this optional extra onto your booking at checkout and have the peace of mind that there will be no extra costs involved in obtaining your CBT.

We will endeavour to get you through on your first attempt however if things do not work out all additional training will be covered in the original price

Cost of optional extra peace of mind is:

If you already have a CBT taken on a scooter and you’re interested in riding a geared (manual) motorcycle your CBT does not limit you to the type of transmission it uses (Manual or Auto).

However, if you have no experience on a clutch & Gear motorcycle you might find this very challenging and potentially dangerous.

With this in mind we have a course specifically for Gear Changing & Clutch Control for those with a valid CBT (taken on auto)

Gear Conversion Course
