Learn to ride with your motorcycle training centre

If you’ve been debating whether to take motorcycle lessons, then look no further than North London Motorcycle Training Centre. We’re based in Edgware and have over 40 years of experience with motorcycle training. We have a dedicated team of friendly instructors to help you pass your CBT, DAS and much more!

If you have no clue where to start, the first step is to apply for your provisional motorcycle licence. The next step is to book your CBT (Compulsory Basic Training). You can take your CBT from the age of 16 and can also only ride a 50cc motorbike! You must display a learner plate. Once you turn 17, you can ride a 125cc motorbike, as well as display a learner plate.

If you’re not quite ready to take on the CBT course, we have an ITM (Introduction to Motorcycling) course. If you have never ridden a motorbike previously or are a complete novice to motorcycling but comfortable on two wheels, the ITM course is perfect for you.

We also have a Gear Conversion course – a 2-hour session completed after the CBT, to learn how to ride a manual 125cc motorcycle with gears.

As well as those courses, we have a Pre-Test Refresher. If you have Module 1 or 2 coming up and need the training to gain more confidence, then this session will help. Module 1 training starts from our off-road site. Module 2 training is on road for a full 2 full hours.

And last but by no means least, we have the ERS (Enhanced/Advanced Rider Scheme).
Our Advanced riding course offers you a tailor-made route to continuous self-improvement by working closely with a DVSA-approved instructor.

The rise of motorbike delivery drivers in the UK

Earlier in the year, NLMT looked at the rise of popularity of motorbike delivery drivers through fast food apps like JustEat and Deliveroo. But what are the benefits of riding a motorbike to deliver items?

Company benefits

Faster food delivery times – Always something that fast food restaurants are trying to achieve – quicker cook-to-plate times! Having the use of a motorbike delivery rider means food is out of the restaurant and on its way to the customer in record time, increasing sales and making repeat business for the food industry.

Increased orders – For the customer, having a quick and easy way of getting food without having to move is beneficial, and with this in mind, more people are likely to order if their food is going to be brought to them. Increased orders and more business for the restaurant mean they will stay in business and continue to do well.

Rider benefits

Motorcycle Skills – one of the best benefits of becoming a motorbike delivery rider is the great motorbike training and skills you will receive. Of course, in order to be a delivery rider, you will need to undertake various tests to ensure you are a competent motorbike rider and you have passed your test. These skills will follow you through life and also support your personal life.

Flexible hours – being a delivery rider means often means working flexible hours to suit the needs of the place from where you are delivering. Whether you want to work nights, weekends or only during the week, often you will have control over the number of hours you work.

Consumer benefits

Convenient and easy food delivery – whilst many of us use the apps because we don’t have the energy to move from the sofa, having our food delivered to us when we are unable to leave the office or don’t have access to transport has given us a more convenient way to get our sustenance.

Receiving orders quicker – ordering through an app and having your food delivered by a motorbike delivery rider can often mean we are getting our meals much quicker than having to go to the restaurant or takeaway in person. This is because riders are often stationed in good proximity to the food establishment, meaning they can be on hand straight away when an order comes through.

There’s still time to purchase a motorbike Christmas gift

Motorbike rider tools that stay on hand – If your loved one has yet to find a motorbike toolset they can carry with them on journeys, why not find the perfect handheld kit that will help them when they are in a bind and out on the road? A tyre repair kit, a flashlight and a wrench are just some of the tools you can find in a handy motorbike tool kit.

A visor cleaning kit to keep the bugs away – As much as we love getting out on our motorbikes throughout the year, it is a given that our visors will come across insects when we are out. If your loved one is coming home covered in bugs with a visor that has seen most of the action from their journey, a visor cleaning kit is a great present or stocking filler that could really make their day.

Lessons with a motorcycle training centre – If your loved one is obsessed with motorbikes but has never had the chance to get their motorbike license sorted, why not give them the gift of learning to ride in the new year?

Motorbike rider accessories for everyday use – There are thousands of accessories for motorbike lovers everywhere you look – from keyrings to bags and t-shirts to hoodies. If you are stuck on what to get a motorbike rider for their Christmas gifts this year, opt for motorbike accessories that show off the love they have for their set of wheels at home.

Motorbike leathers – Finally, and probably most importantly, leather gear for motorbike riders is just as important as the helmet they choose to wear. These clothes are the first line of defence for protecting motorbike riders if they are out on their bikes and they have an accident.
